Required Qualification and Experience:
- Must have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred). A master’s degree in engineering, business administration, or power systems is quite recommended.
- Must have at least 15 years of progressive experience in power sector operations, transmission systems, or large scale infrastructure organizations, and including senior leadership positions.
- Required skillset: Operational leadership, financial acumen, power systems and regulatory knowledge, safety and risk management, digital & technology orientation, stakeholder management, & strategic mindset.
Job Description & Responsibilities
- Lead national transmission system availability, safety performance, and incident response involving transmission assets. Develop & implement strategy that is consistent with NGC business objectives, National Transmission Plan, & system demand predictions.
- Provides comprehensive leadership in Asset Planning’s and Engineering, Field Operations & Maintenance, Project Delivery, Commercial Contract and Stakeholders Management, & Enterprise Security. Manage operationally & capital resources effectively, balancing O&M and CAPEX to maximise value for money.
- Establish and enforce defined operational governance, decision rights, and interaction procedures with external stakeholders, related companies, and other sector participants, in accordance with international transmission utility practice. Lead NGC’s response to major transmission asset failures and security incidents, as well as coordinating restoration actions with appropriate system stakeholders.
- As the principal operational interface for outage planning, asset availability coordination, and operational data interchange, work with other sector bodies to ensure interoperability and system stability. Ensure the continual operational preparedness, safety, and security of transmission assets in accordance with NEPRA performance and technical criteria.
- Drive innovation & grid modernization projects, such as SCADA, asset condition monitoring, predictive analytics, digital substation, & renewable energy integration, to improve asset resilience, operability, & maintainability under changing grid conditions.
