General Position Summary:
Adams Electric Company seeks a creative Assistant Project Manager. The ideal applicant is a leader looking to develop or improve their skills in electrical construction. To be successful in this job, the candidate must be enthusiastic about discovering innovative ways to improve performance and efficiency.
The Assistant Project Manager is in charge of communicating with the project team (General Contractor, Vendors, Subcontractors, and so on) in order to assist the Senior Project Manager and electricians in the field during the installation process.
Responsibilities:
- Detailed evaluation and analysis of building plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Maintain project objectives, policies, processes, and performance requirements within the framework of corporate policies.
Assist the Senior Project Manager/Project Executive in managing and organizing the allocated project(s). Daily activities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Material and Equipment Tracking Procurement
- Prepare an RFI (Request For Information)
- Maintain updated information given to field personnel, such as drawing changes, RFI implementation, and safety documents.
- Review and assist with submissions, shop drawings, O&Ms, as-built drawings, and test reports.
- Help monitor and direct construction activities in collaboration with the onsite Foreman and General Superintendent to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.
- Seek out, monitor, and report any hazards to the Senior Project Manager/Project Executive. Support the project’s leadership in mitigating risks and implementing corrective steps in accordance with business rules.
- Assist the Senior Project Manager/ Project Executive in handling the financial parts of contracts (developing a schedule of values, progress invoicing, rental equipment, income/expenses) in order to safeguard the company’s interests while also maintaining a positive relationship with the client.
- Actively learn to create project cost estimates for approval by the Senior Project Manager or Project Executive.
- Quickly gain a complete awareness of the company’s policies and processes, as well as their implications for project activities. Must be able to help develop and enforce jobsite policies.
- Maintain current understanding of industry best practices, processes, and standards, and provide recommendations to leadership to optimize project efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Promote a positive company culture by developing amicable and constructive employee relations, particularly among field staff.
- Collaborate with the VDC/BIM team to examine Construction Documents and ensure that buildings’ electrical designs are as efficient and code-compliant as possible. Assist Senior Project Manager / Project Executive in reviewing 3D coordination models with the VDC/BIM Team prior to sign off, as well as reviewing shop drawings before they are dispersed to the field for installation.
- Assist the Safety Director, QA/QC, and Project Managers in the design and execution of site-specific quality control and safety procedures.
- Responsible for reinforcing safety standards and fostering a safe culture among all Adams employees.
- Assists with administrative tasks in coordination with Human Resources to find, select, hire, and retain a competent and skilled field staff.
Experience And Education:
- Associate Degree and/or 2+ years of relevant work experience within the Construction Industry may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Prior internships in estimating or construction engineering/construction management industry is considered a plus.
- Experience in the electrical field a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Able to inspect drawings for change order price and material procurement.
- Experience in the electrical area is a plus
- Ability to multitask in a high volume, fast-paced work environment with very tight deadlines.
- Possess leadership skills—the capacity to effectively and professionally interact and motivate all levels of field staff.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Work independently and in a collaborative setting with a positive “can do” attitude.
- Commitment to providing responsive client service, including after hours
- Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Power Point). Experience with Bluebeam, Revit, Spectrum, Navisworks, and estimating/scheduling applications is advantageous.
- Ability to navigate and interpret BIM is also deemed advantageous.
Work Environment/Job Conditions:
- This profession necessitates a lot of sitting and typically involves using a computer. Computer use can cause repetitive motions in the hands, fingers, and wrists.
- He or she must be able to navigate a jobsite and is expected to follow all safety laws both in the office and on the job.
